Make A Zipper Pouch From A Placemat

This is an easy sewing project for beginners. You use a placemat that you can pick up in most stores for under $4 and you can find many under $2. This is a great project to gain experience adding zippers to your projects.
1. Choose a placemat, preferably one that has a contrasting fabric on the other side.
2. For a standard size placemat, you will need a zipper at least 14" long.
3. Attach the zipper by sewing it the way shown in the video.
4. Turn the project outside in and sew the sides.
5. Then box your corners as shown in the video.
6. Turn right side out and you are done!
