Drought resistant flowering and non flowering plants

Try Lantana, it is low maintenance, very hardy, also Black foot daisy, Mexican bush sage

Deerweed, salvia and verbena seem to be the most frequently mentioned plants online. Those would give a variety of color and flowers. There was also a flower like rustic brown-eyed Susans. ☺️

Call into your nearest Garden or Plant centre and ask for advice there, they will understand you conditions and be able to advise you.

Take some photos to your local nursery and ask them to show you plants that would be suitable. They only stock plants guaranteed to thrive in your region. Also, take a walk or drive around your neighborhood and see what is growing in your neighbor's yards and buy those plants.

As to the desert garden landscaping suggestions I would suggest a personal consultation with your planting zone and soil in mind. A great resource that I have used and highly recommend .....is your local Cooperative extension. These offices are manned by a wonderful team of master gardeners that know your local situation quite well.
