Possibly ground cover, perennials to suit ypur zone and lighting conditions and maybe potted flowering annuals using brightly decorative planters for a pop of color.
Then I would hardscape around the pit (either with more of the existing pavers or rip them out and add new pavers in a square to cover all the dirt/traffic area) I would add columnar type trees as screening...poplar, laurel, cedar, pines - whatever will grow well in your area. I would also add some pots planted with bright annuals and/or add some brightly coloured seating (adirondack chairs or sling chairs)
Here’s something a little different.. Depending on where you live you can have a truckload of beach sand brought in and spread around the area. You may want to trim out the edges with similar stones that you used to make your fire pit. Nothing like putting your toes in the sand. We actually had to buy many, many bags from Lowe’s (sandbox sand)
i would do some nice bushes around the perimeter( not right at fire pit) maybe add some flower beds. Add some different heights for visual interest. Put some rocks over the dirt around the pit. Create a nice seating area.
