I use rustoleum, it works well on most materials, comes in a big variety of colors and you can get a matte, semi or gloss finish.

Any color you want! I try to paint mine to coordinate with my house color. Not the exact color, but the same color family - cool colors (blues, greens, purples) with cool colors. Or warm colors (reds, oranges and yellows) with other warm colors. Experiment with color--- If you don't like your choice, paint over it!

Masonry Paint works quite well, otherwise Dulux Matte Emulsion, but you will probably have to give the painted pots a couple of coats of clear varnish

Put a primer on your pot first, then use acrylic, spray paint, house paint, the key is to put some polyurethane maybe 2 or 3 coats after it's done.

I had great success using Annie Sloan chalk paint on plastic pots used outside. Do not apply any wax over the paint as you normally would if using inside. Two years outside and still holding up well with no chipping, flaking or fading.
