Under the pines you may want to go with pots and maybe mulch or rocks underneath. Hostas do well in shade and take no care once they are established. Check with a local greenhouse about the plants that like shade and moist conditions that would be good in your area that take little care.
Hi Judy. Ferns like moist shady soil. Hostas should do well too.

If you can afford it, have a couple of trees removed or at least have the branches thinned out. If some of the trees have resale value, you might could get the removal for free. A bower comes with a shady area, but shade means little sunlight. You may can get laurel and ferns to grow, but ask at a big local nursery for more ideas. ☺️
Moss is evergreen and low enough that you won’t have to rakeit or go over it with a lawn mower. Its also a very pretty velvety green carpet.
Elephant ears will love it
