Looking for curb appeal ideas

I'd paint the front door a bright, welcoming color, then add flowering shrubs in front of the brick walls. I would not line the shrubs up as your house is very linear, but make curved flower beds.

completely agree with Sal85902. Paint the front door a cheery color and consider some shrubs and flowering perennials suited to your planting zone to enhance your front elevation.

As to the specific garden landscaping suggestions I would suggest a personal consultation with your planting zone and soil in mind.

The house has great architectural features, but they don't stand out. You need contrast. All areas that aren't brick should be painted a dark color (brown would be good), with a bright (warm) color on the door to "pop". I would paint the door a dark salmon or burnt orange color - even red. And I would plant annual flowers in several warm colors - orange, yellow and red.

I agree that a color on the door is where to start. I would consider raised beds interspersed w bushes (the beds could br triangular, round, oval, etc . out of wood or pavers. It might look nice to coordinate the door color w the bush bloom like lilacs, forsythia, azelias, etc. and contrasting flowers in the planters.

Your home is beautiful, I love the brick. I think I would paint the door and mailbox red. I would paint the trim, mailbox post and post for roof white. Leave the tan above the windows. I would put evergreen and/or flowering shrubs in a garden framed with garden blocks. The size of the shrubs have to fit the house and garden. Don't put the shrubs in front of the windows, they are low and you'll block them. Plant low growing flowers around the shrubs making sure to have a least some red and white. When making a garden, you can make it with straight lines or curvy. Make sure to have the soil sloping away from the house. I would also plant some of the same flowers around the mailbox and at the corners of the walkway framing them with the garden blocks as well. Check with your local nursery as to what would be best for you to plant.

Personally would add decorative shakers above the windows and around the door, paint front door add large decorative urn paint the mail post. Add decorative brick blocks with low bushes placed bet the windows.

Most folks plant shrubs, trees, flowers, etc. way too close to the house. Dirt up against any home foundation is an invitation for trouble with insects and dampness. As well, once the 'plants' begin growing, it becomes very awkward to get at them to trim and maintain them properly.

You've got lots of empty lawn on the right side. Build a raised free standing brick planter, in a round or curved shape. This will help soften the harsh vertical lines on the front of the house, and balance the weight of the large tree on the left, enhancing the curb appeal of the property.

What a pretty house!! If it were mine, I would make a bed in the center of the lawn and add a dwarf flowering tree with some color...maybe a Japanese cut leaf red maple or a pink magnolia.
