A while back I bought an old, vintage screen at a flea market, for $3.00. I knew I could do something with this. I finally settled on asking Dave to build a cedar wood cabinet of sorts, for our deck. I wanted to replace the cheap plastic rack we had. I thought we could put our various barbecue and gardening stuff in it. It would age nicely, with the cedar top and sides.

It was a 28" wide x 38" long, old green chippy paint with old metal screen.

Dave bought about seven culled 6" wide cedar fence board, about $8.00 total. Since the wood was "culled", misshapen, split, etc., it was pretty cheap! He basically built a box of sorts, reinforcing the corners. I asked Dave to leave the back open since it's up against the house, but he had to stabilize it. For this kind of project I just wanted to keep the price down and be creative. Our cedar box became the body. He used galvanized nails to build it. Dave used a miter saw, but you could use any kind of saw. He did put some scrap plywood on the upper 1/2 of the back to stabilize it.

I did add a hook to hold the door closed in the wind. It's held up great in all the weather! With the bottom back open we can easily get to the power receptacle.
