Using gel stain over trim and doors that have poly on them.

I am replacing the floor in my bathroom with a vinyl wood look flooring. I do not like how the color of stain on my trim and doors looks with the floor. Can I use gel stain to go over the door and trim? There is stain and poly on both.

Hello. You will have to sand the door and trim to remove the existing stain and poly. Otherwise your new stain won't take. If you don't want to sand them then you could always prime and paint them.
You can change the color using Minwax Polyshades. You can go darker but not lighter.

It won't dry well (if at all) over the poly.
