Yes you absolutely can! Just purchase the correct paint for the type of fabric, i.e. cotton canvas or synthetic. I did it the old fashioned way, with a brush. Here are some great sites!

I would dye it with Rit Dye, if synthetic use the new DyeMore formula, you can put it in a spray bottle with really hot water, and give it a few applications to get good coverage....

Hello! Great idea! Simplest method would be to use fabric spray paint. These days it is available everywhere, from Walmart to Lowe’s. Be sure to follow the instructions on the can as far as distance from the umbrella so you don’t get any major drips. Allow overnight to try and then you may have to give it a second coat at least in areas that may not have gone and I think the first time around. Good luck!
