How do I root cuttings from a very old rose bush, which was originally rooted from cuttings? The rose bush has been through 3 or 4 generations so far but the people that rooted them are all now deceased, so it's important to try to propagate.

You won't believe me and my husband didn't until I showed him and now he does it. While it's still cool weather before it gets too hot you can actually snip a stem from your rose bush then stick it directly into the ground. Try to do it somewhere where it's partially shaded. It may not bloom this year but it will take root. No special treatment. Just snip, stick it in the ground and leave it alone.
In the Autumn take pencil size cuttings. just below a node. Cut at an angle so you know which way is the bottom. Dip in Water and then Rooting Powder and in a pot of soil. Do more than one cutting, putting around the edge of the pot as they seem to root better from there...... Wait till next spring when if you are successful they will start to show growth from nodes.
