Searching for plants with specific needs

I wish for an easier way to find plants for specific areas for sun/shade, sand/heavy soil, wet/dry, planting areas 1-10,etc. You must read everything on each plant and there seems not to be one place to go to search for eg. Full shade, area 9, sand, heat tolerant.

Love my loriope for edging. It's healthy, grows with very little care, and propagates yearly.
Have you contacted your Dept of Agriculture, they have lots of info specific to your area.

If you go to a fancy plant store in your area, they should have them divided into shade etc. You don't have to buy them there - but get an idea of what you want. Whatever they sell will be ok for your region of the country.
