Call a roofer. Unless you know what your doing, working on a roof is hazardous even for the professionals.
Look into the flex seal products. I hear they work pretty well. If it has leaked enough to wet your wood, you might think of replacing that, depending on how bad it is.
Before fixing a roof leak you need to find out what is causing the leak. I agree 100% with Sharon. I use to sell roofs and also can tell you that one of the worst things a homeowner can do that is not knowledgeable in roofing is trying to repair something they're not familiar with. You can end up making and easy patch job become a huge roof replacement. Call a reputable company as they normally give free estimates and they know what there looking at. Also this is so important make sure they are insured. There are so many variables to working with a roof that not knowing what your doing can cost you much more money. If it's damage from a storm it can end up being a insurance issue for home owners.
Buy and use Roofix to paint on or call in a roofer..........
Call a roofer. Where water gets in an where it ends up can be yards apart. The previous owners of my house used a wood burning stove..for heat and had a chimney. There was a cap on the chimney.... the water found a small opening into the chimney and the basement had water in it for the next week. The second roofer took down the chimoney patched it correctly. No more water.
