One section is all broken up, the rest is in decent shape. It is a pleasant place to sit but the broken-up cement is ugly

Make sure the broken area is level. Cover concrete with bricks or pavers arranged tightly.

I would remove the cement (if it’s more than just a crack broken) level out the ground and add a different hardscape material...pavers, pea gravel or mulch (or any combination) would work well. Add seating, a couple of tables, some lighting and a couple of planters with shade loving flowers/plants

If your cement is in bad shape break it up with a sledge hammer. Keep pieces as large as you can. Clean out area then bring pieces back in place in scattered pattern then fill in spaces between cement pieces with pea gravel.

Start by buying a cement mix, which will not have the same color as the old, once your done. If your knowledge, and know how to do this, your going to need a three foot level. You best bet is to fix it the best you can, and find several plants, of different heights, and place them in the broken area. Try to level them off with stone and bricks. You can rent a 3 ft. level at Homedepot or Lowe's, for a small fee. They rent for 1/2 day or by the day. Let me know how you made out.

Remove the broken slab and install pavers or pour a new slab.
