is this a running bamboo or clumping. if i is a runner, don't put it in your yard, just a large pot. if it is a runner, it will do just that, run all over your yard and the neighbor's yard. almost impossible to get rid of.

Do not do it. I planted one tiny sprig on my river bank and it grew 20 feet high, expanded all over the place. Have been trying to get rid of for two years.

it is an invasive plant once it takes root it will not go away, and will kill everything in its path. think carefully if you really want this to happen. once it gets going it will not stop.
