We have had peach trees in the past and they do need to go in the ground. We watered ours regularly and fed it Miracle gro. It really took off and produced so many peaches we gave them away, ate them, and canned them. It was such a great tree! Plant it in the spring. Now is probably good for your area (we were in TN ).
