Color is a dark gray granite. Cover for light is black. Wash boards will be stained traditional cherry. Tile floor has brown, blue, granite and some rust colors in it. My plan is to go with metal colors, bronze, copper, pewter, silver etc as decor. Not sure what to do with the door. Please help.

It really depends on what you want the room to feel like when you are in it. If you want small and cozy, dark colors can give that to you. If the room is flooded with light the dark may not shrink it. Dark colors usually make details fade or blend and become negative space. It is only paint and you should at least give it a go. I am sure you have some picture in your head of how it will look. Worst case - you paint it twice.

You can do what you want. The light fixture can be changed , painted, or left alone. The inside of the door can be re-painted to match the trim or whatever you want.

I love gray. But picking the right shade is difficult. I would have gone with a much lighter shade of gray for the walls and white for the ceiling. Are you going to leave the other doors and trim white? I would, and I would paint the wainscoting white and the trim around the entry door white as well. Then you could paint the entry door a slightly darker shade of gray. That would leave you free to use the other colors you referenced for accents. I am not being critical, rather speaking from experience in my own house. Just my humble opinion.

I like a light, airy look but wanted a dramatic look for my son's room. My husband was not in favor of dark walls, so I painted a base of white satin on everything and then painted the inside of the room door, outside of the closet door and drawer fronts black. I also painted a broad strip of black around the edge of the ceiling and each wall. I accessorized with colorful paintings framed in black, some ink drawings and black and white linens. It was a hit.
