Acetone is what's used to remove it, but it will remove the finish if it touches the table top. I prefer to use a scraper and scrape it off, then deal with the finish as this won't remove the stain. Just a light sand, then apply the appropriate poly finish in matt, satin, semi-gloss or gloss.
If you decide to try the acetone, use a cotton swab, add to just the glue, blot with soft cloth, and keep doing it until you've got it off. You can use the nail polish remover that is acetone-based.
Try scraping it off with your fingernail. If it won't budge, use lemon juice. Put on paper towel and let set for about 3-5 minutes. Then rub with grain of wood. You can do the same of the countertop. Good luck.
My pleasure..........
