Leave a gap between Fence and raised beds (fill with gravel on soil). Sleepers are a good idea or especially designed timber or could use Timber stakes and old PVC sidings , flat or woven in and out etc......

      Thanks John

Do i put a small fence infront of their fence to hold in the gravel? And you think sleepers are better than a block wall? I keep getting told the old sleepers weep out a tar mix and the new ones are soft wood and won't last?

If you think the gravel could cause a problem to your neighbour then use something thin but not permeable such as Plastic or Metal preferably. I think Blocks would give you less worry, but could be topped with sleepers if prefered for the look, but I wouldn't worry too much if you want to use Old sleepers( you could always line them with Polythene or Plastic if concerned and tuck under the top Sleeper. (Belt & Braces) approach........

    Enjoy your gardening.......

I used treated lumber to hold the soil on the back side of my raised flower bed. It has worked just fine for three years now.
