Sight
Try putting a rag saturated with household ammonia in a Ziploc bag, seal the top, cut the corner off and then insert into the opening of their tunnel. They do not like the smell and will eventually disappear.
You can leave juicy fruit gum around for them to eat. They have a hard time resisting it but they have trouble digesting it
The only way to get rid of gophers effectively is to kill them and continue to kill them. A Jack Russell Terrier is one of the most effective weapons against these rodents. Traps are another highly effective way--the "Black Box" trap works great. All the other suggestions like bum, and putting things into their tunnel will not work. There is no fact in the chewing gum thing. And anything you put into their tunnels will just cause them to dig another entrance/exit or they will just push the offending item out.
cats if they are good hunters like my Harley are good. He even brings home 3 foot copperheads that he has killed.
Call your county or state Extension Service and they mat be able to give you some helpful advice.
