What is the best way to handle the worn look of an untreated deck?

My deck was built three years ago and I didn’t put any sealer or finish on it then. Now it is looking rather worn. What do I need to do to it to make it look better?

Clean it, let dry, coat with Olympic Restore. I've used it on a very worn wood. I have recommended it to many people. You can roll it on.

We sanded our cedar deck to smooth the surface again and applied deck finish (two coats). It still looks good for the second year.

Armstrong Clark stain is the BEST treatment I have ever used on my deck. I never realized that you need to match your deck sealer/stain to the climate you live in. You do and you should. Armstrong Clark is a linseed product that absorbs into the wood. It never peels. It comes in Solid and semi solid with many colors to choose from. It is formulated to work in very cold and extreme climates like northern Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan. It may not be available in your area but you can order it from Amazon. After 35 years of fighting 2 decks and numerous finishes--I will now NEVER use anything but this product. It lasts and lasts and lasts. You get some fade after about 3-4 years--so you know it's time.

Thanks, I’m going to look that up right now. I like your recommendation.

We have a LOT of wood decking and didn't seal it. Found we needed to pressure clean every year. Made it look really good for a while, but this is Central Florida., summer rain + humidity = mildew. We finally did water seal them this year. We'll see what happens. Friends nearby reseal every 2 years. Better than pressure washing every year, and less damage to the wood
