Creating wall art doesn't always have to be hard, sometimes it's just adding the simplest things that can make a statement in your home decor. This is one of them. It started with a trip to the dump in my hometown. It's a little country dump and it's an awesome place to go to find things. I know some people are shaking their heads by now, but for those of you who have been to one you know what I am talking about. Everything at the dump is sorted into piles, wood, metals , etc. Used furniture is put in big storage containers and the dump is open to the public on the weekends and everything is free for the picking. You may even run into some black bears! It is here where I found my bicycle wheel rims.
These rims were perfect as they were, but you can paint them if you want, but I prefer this rustic look. Next I had these magnetic plaques that I had purchased at Michaels some time ago and they were perfect for this project.
Here are my plaques. Michaels has a huge selection depending on your style.
So this is pretty straight forward. Place your plaque in the centre of your rim. And this one is finished.
Here it is on a shelf in my living room.
This one I added a flower to the middle and the word Believe.
So here is this one completed.
This one sits on the top of my hutch in my dining room.
Absolutely love how these turned out, and they cost next to nothing to create and can easily be changed with a different plaque for a few dollars.

This is a bigger rim I did for my bedroom, I painted this one adding little metal flower in the middle.
Can change it up a bit adding the heart with the word Love on it.

I think I'll make a wall clock for my grandson from his old bike wheel.

Yas great idea Joan. I would live to see pics of it. Been thinking about doing something like that for my grandsons room also. Thanks u both and everyone for their ideas and this post. It is a great idea and now for me to actually decide on how to with the 2 rims I have in my garage now. 😊 I just love this home talk. It has given me so many awesome ideas and showed me so many ways to do things.
