Sanding works the best. You can rent an industrial and get it done in a few hours or a hand sander which takes a lot longer. Caution wear masks and cover everything, there will be a ton of dust in the air!
Hi Diana, Hardwood floors are so worth the job of sanding them. Local rental businesses should have a sander that you can rent. Then clean the floors and then stain them. Best of luck to you. Put plastic sheets on your doorways and heat/air vents. Wear necessary protective wear.
