Cleaning 100% rayon pants-Thanks for any advice!
I have a beautiful pair of dressy 100% rayon pants. I need to clean them and the label says "dry clean only". Do you think these could be hand washed? If so, with mild dish soap? Woolite? Thanks for any advice!

- 2dogalon Apr 17, 2018Yes, you can hand wash rayon - very gently. Rayon has a tendency to wrinkle badly if twisted a lot. Use slightly warm water and a mild laundry soap, not kitchen soap. Swish to rinse, don't twist the material. If you are concerned, do what the directions say - dry clean.HelpfulReply
- Lisa S.on Apr 17, 2018I would hand wash, but very gently. "Dipping" is what I call it. Concentrate just on the areas that a soiled, and the crotch area. Do not twist to dry. Roll in a think towel, the drip dry. Wen dry iron with a warm, not hot iron.HelpfulReply

- Susan Harris Seeleyon Apr 18, 2018Rayon is notorious for shrinkage and wrinkling. You would have to iron the heck out of them. Plus you could scorch them. I would dry clean them.thats why I never buy clothes that say dry clean only, it’s too expensive to maintain them.HelpfulReply

- Joy30150932on Apr 18, 2018The rayon may shrink if you hand wash them. If they are really expensive I would hesitate to wash them. I had rayon drapes one time and they were dry cleaned and even that shrunk them. Be sure to tell the dry cleaner what the fabric is when you take them in.HelpfulReply
