Christmas Cacti question

I have a cactus that has long “branches” that I would like to break off and root them, how do I do this? Thanks in advance! Don’t know what I would do without this site!

Fill Old Jar 3/4 full with water and Let them smell the water (Put them in the jar and they will send roots to find the water.
