Door protectors ideas?

When guests come through the main entrance with their luggage into a narrow hallway, they first jam the luggage against the door directly in front of them, then they bang the luggage on the door to the right. The doors are being beaten up and look aweful and have to be smoothed and repainted regularly. I'd like to find a decorative solution for covering the doors with some kind of protective material, preferably some kind of metal. I've done some research and the cost for decorative metal sheets will amount to about $80 per door. A surface of 34" X 29" needs to be covered on each door. I was hoping for a less expensive solution.
