Sprinkle some grated Irish spring soap around them. Won't hurt the plants at all but the smell will keep the rabbits away. They used to chew on my hosta, along with the squirrels. The Irish Spring worked great. Don't put it in your garden though.
I use both grated Irish spring soap and cayenne pepper powder around my hostas and bulbs and also in my vegetable garden when my corn and green beans are first coming up to keep away the rabbits, squirrels and chipmunks from dining on everything.

Try sprinkling either "blood meal" or paprika around the plants.
