My friend gave me a call one day and told me to go look at a table she found on the curb. I immediately hopped in the car and went to find this treasure.
It was in rough shape.  But aren’t all curbside treasure?  I decided to bring it home.  In spite of being an inexpensive table, it still has a nice design.
The table must have been kept on the lanai because the top was warped.  I thought of tiling the table top but didn’t have enough tile.  The second choice of pallet wood quickly became the first choice. It took 3 pieces of pallet wood cut to size.  Then I put them to the side and started painting the table.
The first layer of DIY chalk paint is a very light almost white green color.  Once the paint dried, I lightly sanded it to smooth it out.  I love to layer paint since it gives a piece interest when it is distressed and the first color peeks through.  The next color is a cream.  Then the table got distressed and waxed.
Time to tackle the table top.  I used wood glue to glue the boards down.  Clamp them to hold the boards in place.  After the boards were secure I took the brad nailer and nailed the boards also.
To finish the boards I wiped them with a damp paper towel to open the grain.  Then I applied Tung Oil to the boards.  I wanted to keep the natural color of the wood.  For a curbside find, this table looks good now.
