Fill tub with hot water for a full wash. Add one cup of Bleach (or) Baking Soda w/Vinegar. Don't add Bleach to Vinegar.

Agitate for about a minute to mix it. Let it soak for about an half hour. Add 1/4 laundry detergent and run a full cycle without clothes. If you want you can add a towel or 2 in the rinse cycle.

That should take care of the smell.

Warning do not add Bleach and Vinegar together.

FIrst remove any trapped lint and wash the rubber gasket with a mild bleach solution. There are a couple of beands of cleaners that you can run through the washer about once a month to stop the odour. Leave the washer door open to air it out in between washing.

if it's a front loader, contact the mfg, they may offer you a rebate -- lots of problems with front loaders and odors -- also you can run a load of kitchen towels with white vinegar in place of bleach and that will help -- and TIDE make a Pod for that --- and always leave the door / lid open! regardless of model type

Use vinegar in a wash and from there on leave the door open just a little bit

Try setting the washer cycle for a large load, add a couple cups of bleach & let it run through it's normal cycle. Don't add any clothes while doing this, & set it on either cold or warm, I learned years ago from the health dept during a restaurant inspection that hot water kills the disinfecting properties of bleach.

Run a cycle of just beach or vinegar and never close the door all the way when it's not in use.
