What are the metal pieces???

So I’ve been looking for a hanging pot rack for quite some time and I finally found one that I love. I click on the link and typical for me, it’s no longer available. Sooo, I went to my local reclaimed wood supply store and bought some wood and dragged it up to my fathers house to have him do his magic to it. I have the pot rack portion of it built but I’m having a challenging time finding the metal pieces that go around it as it shows in the picture. Why I love the wood portion that my father has built, it still doesn’t seem finished to me.

I‘ve attached a picture in hopes of someone being able to identify what the metal pieces are that seem to wrap around portions of the wood and maybe, just maybe, someone will know where i can find them or something similar.

What you could do is find an old belt and cut pieces to fit and tack it on with decorative tacks. You can also buy tin/metal in strips at the craft stores.

  • The metal pieces appear to be purely decorative. You can find a metal fabricator to help you out or cruise the aisles of your hardware, home improvement or craft store till something inspires you. How about copper? Easy to work with and as it ages, develops a great patina.

They look like re-purposed shelf brackets or some such right angle bent flat hardware. Look at industrial/loft style brackets, if they're not too thick you can cut them down on a bandsaw or such. You could also try some lighter metal and slightly hammered it around the wood frame, like flashing metal, which you can cut with heavy scissors. Use your father as a resource to imitate the look you want. In the original picture, those metal accents might not even be heavy metal, so many things can be faked for the look you want.

Google "metal u brackets". They come in all sizes and metals and can be painted with Rustoleum spray paint for metal to any color you want. You can find them at Lowes or Home Depot or a ton of sites online. They are even pre-drilled for attaching. You just need the size of the wood pieces you will be attaching them to. Best of luck!

At Lowes they sell these metal pieces and you can spray paint them but I always look around other sections to see what else I can use. Plumbing, Garden, Garage Door, Fencing, Hardware are all sections that I usually find cool off project things to work with my projects.
