Water/heat mark?? on wood end table.

We bought some beautiful used night stands however on the top of one it has about a 4 inch mark on it. It's not a water mark I don't believe. I know what that looks like. Just don't know what it is. Pledge or Guardsman doesn't budge it. Hoping not to sand on it. Not very noticeable to others but I know it's there. Will try to send picture.

If I'm thinking the marble edge shown in the picture is a lamp base, why not flip the table over, see if the top can be removed. Maybe with screws? If the top is removable, take off, spin it 180 degrees and refasten. then your lamp base will cover the mark.. hopefully??

    Use a doily

Looks like something was spilled and removed the finish. Place a cloth over the mark. An iron set to low and iron the cloth checking every so often and see if it's lifting. Dampen a cotton ball with Goo Gone and dab the spot. Try a small area first and see if that works.

it appears that something has removed the finish, you can cover it up with a doily, but without sanding and re-finishing the mark will always be there. If it bothers you that it is there even though not noticeable you probably need to Fix it properly
