Most stoves have knobs that are easy to just pull off. After you pull them off put the knobs in a container with very hot water add some dawn let them soak and then work on the part where the knobs go. Unless you have a stove that is very unusual this should work.

most knobs pull right off -- just pull STRAIGHT out -- they're designed to 'pop' off --- if this doesn't work for you, fold a damp paper towel and slide between the knob and the front -- you can use a bit of dish washing liquid to cut the grease, etc., just keep 'sawing' the towel or dish cloth back and forth and change out when soiled.

Put the tips of your fingers under theknob and slowly apply pressure while pulling up. The knobs will come off. Clean, then gently replace the knob.

The knobs should pull straight off so you can get to the surface to be cleaned. If they have never been on they may be “glued” on with the many years of “gunk” that tends to spill on them. I would suggest that you put some old rags on the floor underneath to catch any drips and then spray with a strong solution of dish soap and water. A small brush such as a 1/2” round straw brush may help to get the solution into the crevices and allow it to begin loosening the grime there. once you’ve removed them you may want to apply dish soap right to the area to work on the grease build up. 409 is also a great help in situations like this.

The knobs just pop off. Most knobs have a flat spot inside the hole and when replacing them match up the flat spot with the flat spot on the stem.

The knobs should pull right off. If not there may be a screw holding them on.
  • Most knobs pull off, see if yours do.

Pull the knobs off and wash them in dish soap. Clean behind them with just about any household cleaner. Awesome could be used.

Susan, I'm assuming your knobs do not come off so try using a cotton swab and Dawn dish soap. Let the dish soap sit a while before rinsing with clean swab or dish cloth.

Hi Susan. My knobs pull off of the stove. I use a magic eraser, or soak them in hot water with vinegar and dish soap.

Have you tried to pull them off? Knobs on a range usually slip right on and off for cleaning.

Pull straight out and the knob will come off. when you are done cleaning, simply push the knobs back on. The knobs typically will be keyed for the direction they go.

The knobs should pull off when they are in the off position then clean that area as you do the rest of the stove.
