What are some creative ways to re-purpose an old Silver Service?

I have an old Silver Service that belonged to my grandmother that has been sitting in the basement for years. Coffee pot, tea pot, creamer, sugar bowl and serving tray. I would love to re-purpose it, but it is much too formal for my taste. Any ideas out there?

You could use the teapot and creamer, to hold plants or small posies of flowers.. the sugar bowl in your bathroom or bedroom with cotton wool etc., The tray you could have in a room with maybe somethings kept on it that you like to collect.. shells etc., anything really..
Are you much opposed to painting them? That can totally transform the look! You could use them as vignette pieces on the tray, planters, or eclectic storage pieces in your kitchen.
If it is silve and not silverplate have it appraised. It may have some value. Look for any makers marks and Google them.
Polish them and take it to a consignment store. Sterling has value, though if it’s very old or ornate, younger people won’t buy.
