Well I am that person you see loading up cool road side freebies in her car. When I saw this spool I got super excited because I have always wanted a spool coffee table. It had no damage and was sturdy so home she came. Luckily I have a very patient husband!
Here I sanded it lightly
Like I said it was it really great condition yet had some neat characteristic.
I lightly sanded it to get it to accept my stain.
I have been having so much fun with my minwax weathered oak stain.
Here is the character
I applied at least 3 coats of stain because I loved the way the greys in the stain grabbed to the grain.
Because I had extra spool tops I took the disks from them and glued them into the holes that were open.
I had casters laying around that I always snatch up at yard sales and thrift stores at a super discount. So I attached after I applied a clear poly coat.
After polyurethane coat
The polyurethane really brought out the stain color.
My new favorite stain
My new buddy!
Finished!
Now I am just trying to figure out how to decorate the with goodies, my antlers just aren’t doing it. But I really love how it turned out! I have a girlfriend who spent hundreds on a fake spool table. Mine was free 99 with a little work. Hope you enjoy
