Simple Coffee Table Makeover

Paint goes a long way in giving an old piece of furniture a new, fresh look. I’m in the middle of giving our sports room a much needed makeover. One of the first items I tackled was an old brown coffee table my brother gave me a few years ago when he moved to Charleston. He didn’t need it in his new home, so of course when he asked if I wanted it, I said yes. Who turns down a free coffee table? It’s been sitting in the sports room along with some other pieces waiting for me to take the time to do the room makeover.
The piece is very sturdy and I like the lines it has. I didn’t like the dark brown though. I'm not always a fan of painting furniture, but this piece is not vintage, it's just old and worn looking.
I was lazy and didn’t take the table into the garage for painting. Using plastic sheets and cardboard pieces beneath the legs worked well so I was able to use the space on the upstairs landing for painting it.
I first cleaned the table with TSP to get it ready for painting. I removed the drawer pull before painting.
One coat of Behr Ultra Pure White Premium Plus paint covered it well.
I wanted to give the table more interest and I spent some time deciding on how to do that. Once I decided to paint the trim and the drawer a contrasting color, I taped off the areas that I didn't want to paint over with painter's tape.
I decided on painting the outer trim and the drawer using Behr Cosmic Quest paint. The walls in the room that this will go in are the same as in the photo below. The drawer pull was screwed back on. It's silver, so it was already a good match for the gray and white table.
I waited a day after I painted it to add Minwax Polycrylic Protective finish to it. I usually use the spray form of this, but since I was painting indoors, I used the liquid form with a synthetic bristle brush for application. It goes on easily and dries quickly.
The actual work time for this was only a couple of hours. Letting it sit overnight before adding the protective finish adds to the overall time. To see more, please visit the link https://acrosstheblvd.com/simple-coffee-table-makeover/

Of changing the legs of the table?
I love the original color you painted,but can see how you made it blend into the room by adding additional color. Very nice. I actually found on a walk,the same table on the curb. I picked it up and walked it home. That table is very heavy,anyway I never thought of painting it but like I said I really liked it in light color,so thank you. I do have a basic question, what does tsp do other than clean the table? Does it remove the finish so that the paint will adhere? Thanks to whomever answers this.
