Thrift Store Coffee Table Turned DIY Tufted Ottoman

Found this old glass topped coffee table at the thrift store a while back. I loved the gorgeous wood detail and knew it would work perfectly for the ottoman design I had in mind. There are several (or a hundred!) tutorials online so I loosely followed those and created the tufted top.....out of a $6 drop cloth! A bit labor intensive but very do-able. Now we have the best of both worlds...a great place to put our feet up, an extra "seat" for guests, if needed, and I love that it can still used as a coffee table with the added tray.
Coffee table before. Hard to tell from the photo but it was very beat up. It originally had a glass top.
We built the frame with a Kreg Jig for extra sturdiness.
I painted the base with Chalk Paint and then created a "TUFTED TOP" using foam, batting and a DROP CLOTH! I made my own buttons too.
Enjoyed the project?
