What is the best way to repaint a peeling steel bulkhead door?

Have a steel bulkhead door that looks horrible because the paint always peels after painting. It came primed but peeled after it was painted. Scraped away as much of the peeling paint I was able, repainted and peeling again. Should it be sanded entirely or stripped with a chemical paint stripper before repainting? What paint should be used?

You can use citristip( Lowe’s or Home Depot) and give it a good sanding and use a primer and an anti rust outdoor spray paint!

Sand the remaining [aint off, clean use a outdoor exterior primer for metal, allow to dry ,paint with exterior paint for steel

Sand it, paint w/ Rustoleum. Spray is easy, but because it is always windy here, I used the can & a paint brush. Ezpz.

Strip it then paint it with truck bed liner paint....stuff is incredibly durable and won't peel!!

After sanding down the old, peeling paint, repaint with a Rustoleum paint in your choice of color. Then be sure to seal it with an extra clear coat for more durability. I hope this helps answer your question. Good luck!

I used the Citristrip paint stripper and sanded but not all the paint came off. Will do this again and hope all the old paint comes off.
