Sewing Table Makeover With Side of the Road Planks

I found this sewing table at a thrift store for about $15. I knew it had potential, but it took 2 years for me to finally figure it out! Small wood planks I had found at a dumpster would be perfect as a rustic top when stained and secured to the table.

Here is the sewing table before. As it sat in my garage for 2 years!
I needed to glue the current top down. Traditional sewing tables or cabinets have tops that fold out. I no longer needed this function.
Before I cut the pieces, I did a "dry" fit to see how they would all fit together an make sure my idea would actually work.
I added the planks to the table by using wood screws and wood glue then filling them in with wood filler.
I painted the finished body of the piece with CeCe Caldwell's Seattle Mist (it shows up blue on my piece!) I stained the wood planks with Minwax polyshades in Walnut.

Hmm... Of all the examples shown in this series I would've thought someone might've turned the old sewing machine cabinet into a small vanity.
