How to paint Paint Brick?

Hi all - I'm looking at a house, and it's all brick (yay) but it looks "old". Can I white wash it to look better, and would that even last? Thanks

You would need to seal the bricks first with brick sealer then use a Exterior Masonry Paint. (Warning) once you paint a house, it will probably be an ongoing maintenance item to factor in every few years or so.

Brick is an absolutely timeless look. New houses are still being built with brick, if the owners can afford it. Painting or whitewashing puts a coating on that WILL flake and peel. Then you are stuck with the nightmare of trying to strip the whole house.

Unless you are very experienced with a pressure washer you may want to hire a company to pressure wash the house. Could be that dirt is what makes you think it looks old. Could be overgrown plantings or trim color and condition are what makes you think it looks old.
