There are greasy stains on my wallpaper.

I have tried dish soap, but that didn't help and have since tried a mixture of corn starch and water. I think the marks aren't so obvious, but wondered what else I could try - the paper is not really washableM

I'd like to offer a cleaning solution but non-scrubbable wallpaper with grease stains will have to be replaced.

  • Try blotting carefully with rubbing alcohol. Test in an out of the way spot first.

Sadly, if it is ordinary wallpaper and not a vinyl or washable , it may never come out....................

White cloth or towels & a warm iron work wonders. Put the cloth or towels over stain, then take very warm iron & hold on cloth for about 15 seconds. Repeat as many times as necessary, until stain is gone. Just make certain you put a clean section of the cloth or towel on stain each time. Also, paper towels work well if you don’t have a white towel or cloth.

First, place paper towels over stains. Run a iron on a low heat setting over the paper towels. The grease should seep into the paper towels. Remove the towels to dislodge the stains.

Talcum powder can also work. Pour talcum powder on a washcloth. Apply talcum powder onto the wall with the cloth. Let the powder sit for 10 minutes. Remove the powder from the wall with a dry sponge or brush.

Have you tried a gum eraser? They tend to crumble so have a clean brush to sweep away residue. You can find them in art supplies.
