Mulch, have some bags from last season and some of it looks moldy????

is it safe to use bagged mulch bought last fall?? some of it has whitish stuff on it, mold???

    It's fine, Mix it up a bit. Just condensation on the wood in the mulch.

    Yes I've had it happen I made a weak bleach solution (2 tsp approximately) to quart of water spread where you want and lightly spray. Another way is to spread on a tarp and leave in full sun

    I use it. The sunlight eventually kills all that and drys it up.

    we use ours every year when we've purchased too many bags never had a problem it will eventually go away (white spots)

    The active mold and fungus that cause the white mean there are living micro organisms. They do not need to be killed, because soil should not be sterile. Your garden climate will balance the compost once it is down.


    It can be quite a surprise to see all the white when opening a bag of soil mix/mulch.
