How can I decorate my 7 year old daughter room. She is not very girly.

Oh, what an opportunity you have. Since she likes to build things, put down some LEGO plates on a table and let her build away, it seems no one outgrows LEGO's. They have basic to advanced kits.

See if you can find a wallpaper that reflex her interest. Or Use her favourite colour and choose a bedspread, or better still ask her to choose a Duvet cover Set she likes and take the colours from that.

Ask her! This is a great project you can do together. Not being girly is perfectly Ok! One thing for sure, she should have a bulletin board of some sort. Walmart has decent sized ones for $8 that you can easily paint and customize. Head over to a school supply and let her pick out charts, graphs, anything that fosters her building or science interests. How about a globe and map of the world, then frame it as art - maybe make it interactive.

This is the chance to have a fun project together. As others have said, work with her and let her choose as much of the materials as possible. If you go the Lego route you can paint one accent wall in one of those colors. Also, open shelving can be very functional to use for supplies she loves to build with. Maybe a microscope might be a great purchase. Take pictures and print out on your computer for art work. Several floor cushions you can easily make yourselves might be a good addition for when she has friends come over.

Stay with neutral colors for the walls and bedding and add fun pillows as well as other accessories such as posters and wall art of her liking. When my science kid was younger, we painted a large chalk board on his wall - he and his friends loved it!

Take her to WalMart and let her pick out a few things to start with, like quilt, rugs, etc. That will give you an idea for colors to work with. She would be old enough to have a bunk bed and convert it to only a top bunk and put a desk and shelves and cubbies under the top bunk. Put book shelves on the sides. If she gets into building things, like Legos, I would provide her with a chest of drawers with which to store what she makes and directions, etc., anything that sparks her staying in touch with her science and building interest.

I would ask her what she likes .. think about her intrests .. That will for sure lead you in a good direction
