These landscape rocks were here when we moved in. As you can tell, they are jagged and sharp....my youngest has now hurt her back falling on them. So they have GOT to GO!! But what do I do?? Any SAFE ideas to create something with them before they are shipped to the dump??? icon
As you can see...we have lots of them!

Could they be piled and stacked HORIZONTALLY to a softer wall formation, removing the sharp sawtooth edging?

You could lay them flat making a rock garden or a water feature for your garden. You may have to break some up for a proper look. If you don't want to or can't use them. Don't put them in the dump, I'm sure if you got on craig's list or something like that, you could find someone to take them off of your hands.

  • Offer them to others! Freecycle.org, Nextdoor.com. Someone will want them! If I was your neighbor, I would love free rocks!

Advertise them free, many people would love to have stones of that size for their landscaping projects, just make sure you specify that they pick them up and haul them away. You could also offer them to a landscaping company or two. Don't take them to the dump. You could also do as Vimarhonor suggested and use them for something with the jagged parts more hidden.

Check and see if you have a local online neighborhood bulletin board to advertise "free" stuff. I am preparing a rock garden as we speak and would love to have these rocks!!!

You can also place a few at the curb, say near the mailbox and post a sign, "We have many of these rocks for FREE...Call 123-456-7890 to arrange pick up!"

If you have a landscape people in your area all the time like most of us do, talk to them about taking some "free rocks."

In the meantime, move the rocks back onto the mulch closer to the house and under the bushes...that should get them away from your child.

Lay them flat and stacked on each other to make a low retaining border for your flower beds, or offer them up for free.

Do a DIY project and create a waterfall area or water feature in a corner of your yard with them. It would involve a lot of work but be an addition to your home. You'd need to get a pump. Would be a nice summer project for the family.

Either create a water feature with them or offer them on Craigslist for free( it is better to give them away than to throw them away!)

Horizontal is the way to go, creates a harmless landscape theme.
