labor intensive, but grub out as many as you can, three are products that will help 'stumps to rot, but it takes a LONG time .... keep removing any sign of 'green' stems/leaves etc., and eventually the roots will die from lack of nourishment -- but it won't happen over night.

You could also make this into a fire pit area or seating area, using the stumps as part of the legs for seating.

Use the area as a feature, and enclose the feature:- Paved Circle with Central Statue or Birdbath/Sundial etc. Tree stumps: Use them to weave in and out Twigs or Rope to form a low wall. Set a path around outside circle by laying Pavers or Stepping Stones etc. You could also use the inside of low fence to grow Green Beans and/or Sweet Pea or Flowers or Tree or a Pond..

Put a REALLY heavy duty chain around one stump. Make sure it will not come off . Hitch other end of chain to your truck or station wagon. Start slowly pulling the stump out of the ground. Been there, done it...with our old station wagon. there was no damage to the vehicle and there were no more stumps or bushes. pulled out 7 redtips that way. Yes they were alive. i amened the soil. waited a year and started planting roses. The roses were from jackson and perkins. Within a year i had some of the most gorgeous roses in my front yards;about 8 Florabundas. I created in my large back yard, a cutting garden. Hope this helps

Absolutely yes. At the time we were doing some 'Landscaping', we had this station wagon made in the late '70's. That thing was a re-incarnated Tank!

You could rent a small backhoe and tear them out and regrade the area. Just have the extra soil already there to spread around.
