Landscaping advice

We need some advice. As you look at the front of our home we just bought, you can see a strip of concrete running under the large window in front. It goes nowhere and serves no purpose. We can’t afford to have it taken out yet. Any suggestions as to what to do with it until then? Thanks,
When I took down my fireplace there was a big concrete pad the width of a sidewalk in the front of the house, I just threw bags of dirt to about 3-4" of dirt and planted ground cover and put in a few small azaleas. You would never know its there.
WOW! So fortunate! ...a blank canvas! ...and with the neutral color of the house (nice!) you can put 3-5 large colored! pots (of the SAME color... red? blue? ...to keep it from looking cluttered) and plant some easy to-care-for plants like hostess or caladiums.

Hi Dramamomma! You need some color! You could add a planting bed around the tree using colorful perennials. Here's a link on how to easily build a new flower bed.
You could also add a flower box on the larger window, hanging baskets on shepherd's hooks along your walkway and large planters on your porch.
What about colorful cushions on your porch furniture? As Nan W. said, you are fortunate to have a blank canvas so look at it as an opportunity not a challenge.

A planter box filled with colorful flowers would look great. If it was about a foot high and as long as the concrete area it might look like the concrete is there for the purpose of holding the planter box.
Instead of a window box, could ypu consider constting a large raised boxed planting bed there?
