How to paint the molding above your toilet in the bathroom?

Hi I am currently trying to paint my bathroom and realized I could not reach the ceiling above my toilet. I know I can use a roller brush but what about the molding which I had planned to paint a different color? Absolutely no one has a video or answer on how to get this done without removing the toilet. Which I have no idea how to do please help

If your ceiling is the same color as your wall, you can tape a paint brush to the end of a wooden pole (old broom handle, piece of pvc pipe) with duct tape and paint away. Looks like you might need to prime the trim before painting it.

I was going for a different color but i ruined it trying to rig my step ladder over the toilet. Shaking so bad it looked like tie dye painting!!!!

I place my step ladder over the toilet. (2 feet on one side, 2 get on the other) I hope that makes sense.

    😊

Your step stool is just enough smaller to not actually fit over your toilet. My stepladder is bigger so using the same format it fit soundly. I would have been a nervous wreck as well!

That is a tight space to try to rig something other than a step ladder. Maybe you can borrow one?

  • You do not need to remove the toilet. Stand on it, use a ladder, rent scaffolding. Invite your tall friends over to help you paint the ceiling and trim. Not to fret, you can do this! 🌞

  • Here is another way - lift the toilet seat up. Drape a towel over the bowl. Grab some scrap wood (sturdy enough to stand on without bowing), set it across the toilet. Gingerly get a step stool, then step on the wood across the toilet seat. Be careful though as this is not the "safest" way to paint, but will do in a pinch.

My lighting is horrible but i think it looks better. What do you think? I added my countertop to see of you knew how i could possibly remove this liner or somehow get it to blend with the counter. I thought black would be cute but nope and when i tried to remove the black......well u see what happened

Lean/tilt a ladder up against wall and/or over toilet with someone securing you for extra safety or use some other way to secure it.

  • Wow, much better! Looks bright, fresh and clean. Good job! 👍

May be hire or buy or borrow a folding platform you could stand on or hire a decorator to do it for you.

    Don't stand on the toilet!!!!

I did that and broke the plastic lid. With a ladder you should be able to move it so you have access to the molding above the toilet.
