Trying to pick out a paint color for main living areas.

My daughter has furniture this color and she used a pale green wall. You have a room full of neutrals. Your wall can be your gentle or bold splash of color. Have fun!

I just painted my whole house with Behr "Paparazzi Splash." It's a light gray and is beautiful. In the sunlight it has a blue tinge and at night, it's gray. I painted all trim white.

If you want light, go with Satin vs Eggshell. Satin reflects light. I heard a paint dept tell a customer who had no windows in his living room(!) to paint the ceilings with semi-gloss or gloss paint and that will reflect the light. SMART GIRL. Greige is a nice color as it is between grey & beige.

Go to the paint store and get a bunch of color cards you like. Tape them on the walls. Go into the rooms several times of day and take notice to the colors. Also do this during different kinds of weather (sunny, cloudy, stormy). Eliminate them until you have a couple. Then buy sample pints of those colors, paint them on the walls and do the same thing until you have the one.

Paint darker colors in bright room and lighter colors in darker room. Blackout or room darkening shades help a lot...not just to block out light but to prevent fading out color on furniture and carpets

Maybe have an accent wall be one color and then doing a light color on the other walls. I would buy a few tester cans and paint the wall. That way you can see what draws your eye.

Favorite light go to wall color, like a chameleon appears to change with surrounding furniture color & sun light.

My painter thinks I'm nuts, but I have all walls painted in semi gloss - love natural light reflection & really easy to clean walls with absolutely no visible marks (which I have experienced from satin paints).

Color me boring but why not try a bright semi-gloss white on the wall that receives the least amount of white and then paint the other walls a white with just a hint of your favorite color (as long as it matches the rest of your palette)? The semi-gloss will reflect what light you have and the lightly tinted whites really look nice when you mix it with one super-white wall. jmho
