Artificial grass is heat resistant, needs no watering, weeding, fertilizing, or mowing, and is always green.

Depends on where you are in Texas! We’re in East Texas and centipede grass does better. In Houston St. Augustine grass does well. I’ve never lived in West Texas but Im thinking tumble weeds grow better there!

Ha! good one. Also don't forget sand and continual wind! That's all I remember about El Paso.

Bermuda. Plant it thick and water deep once a week till it is lush and green. Annual fertilizer, weed and pest maintenance and it will look like a golf course.

For growing real grass in a hot climate zone, I would suggest having underground sprinkler drip system installed on a timer. Besides being so much more convenient that hauling hoses around the yard, it will enable you to water after dark when the temperature is cooler. There won't be as much tramping over the growing grass to reposition hoses, which should create a more even looking lawn. There will be less evaporation with this method of watering, and stronger change that the roots will get sufficiently watered before the surface water blows away in the wind or evaporated in the hot air.

We had Bermuda grass in Oklahoma and it did well. Probably will do the same for you. Good luck.
