I found this old metal cart from a flea market and knew it would be the perfect solution for entertaining in my backyard! With a little bit of love, it turned into one of my favorite pieces for my yard, and it's a great bar cart, perfect for entertaining. If you love this project, you can find more easy and affordable DIY ideas on my blog, Love & Renovations.
Start off with an old metal cart. The rustier it is to begin, the more satisfying the finished product will be! You can find these at flea markets and thrift stores all the time, and they usually run you $30 or so.
Give the bar cart a thorough cleaning. Use a sanding block to get rid of any loose rust or flaking paint, and wipe the entire cart down with soap and water. You'll want to be sure to remove any dirt or flaking pieces to ensure a good finish in the end.
Grab some rust-blocking primer ( here's an affiliate link for the one I used) and prime the entire bar cart. Be sure to also prime the underside of the shelves, to help stop any rust that's forming.
Once your primer is dry, choose your favorite color of spray paint and give the entire thing a few coats. Allow it to dry, then fill it up with all of your spring and summer serving essentials and you're ready for your first backyard party of the year!
