I'd like to re-paint this room white but not sure of what color white. Right now its beige and looks dingy and dirty. I'd also like to paint the fireplace brick white and re-paint the gold on the doors black. Do u think this is a good idea? What color should the mantle be then???
Once done I will buy a rug and something that works over the fireplace. Thank You!
Should I paint the trim around the windows white also? Thanks You!

Take your chair cushion to the paint store with you. It’s a great color.

I think I’d hold off on window trim til almost done. It’s difficult to tell because photos so dark, but keeping the wood could tie the room together.

I would love to see you find another place for the gorgeous cabinet behind the chair.

Dove white goes with everything. But there are tons of "white" shades. I prefer a gray white. Do not use stark white out of the can. I think your fireplace would look great in a contrasting white or gray. Yes paint the trim in semi-gloss or gloss paint. I would also think about putting bamboo shades in the window. The black doors would look great against the white. Use a paint sprayer to get a professional look.

I prefer Benjamin Moore paints and use OW 30 (can't remember name) May I make another observation? You have a lovely large piece of furniture but it is hidden in that corner. Is there any reason it cannot be on the other side of the fireplace near the window where it would show more? Also I think vertical blinds are not in style now (if you want unsolicited advice). You have a lot going for this room.

Where you have a lot of white furniture I think your walls need to be a darker color it will make the fur stand out, then do the fireplace white

what I saw in the picture was a lack of division between the ceiling and walls .I think you need is white crown molding. also for the fire place they make peel and stick towels some silver with light colors, you just put wp board over fire place and cover it. I hope this was helpful.sarah

All white, you need some accent color to give this palate some pizzazz. If you keep white walls, pick a bright color for pillow, as a rug, candles, etc. You have a brass metal tray - thus I would keep the gold color. You should have a color for metal - gold or silver in a room. This of this as an outfit you would wear.

One other "opinion": maybe a beefier mantel?

Love the ashen color of the coffee table! That would be good on the fireplace. Wall color in lighter color yes , in same tone only light. Agree with other suggestions on furniture placement window treatment.

All these folks have interesting ideas and the one that most strikes me is: Where's the color. I'd suggest that if you really want white, go with a warm one. White and black can be really nice if you pop it with color otherwise the contrast is too stark. Hey have fun.
