New washing machine

I think I have complained here before about my new washing machine. It twists and turns, and makes many wrinkles in my laundry. Now normally that is just annoying and creating more ironing. . . but now it is spring and I have lots of curtains I need to wash, in fact 7 pair; and I can't have them twisted and turned and generally put through the washer. So I ordered some mesh bags from Amazon and I hope this will prevent them from being ripped which is my fear 'cause curtains don't get washed twice a year in my house. Wish me luck and any advice welcome too!

Does your washer have a button for extra water? That may help if it does. Anymore, washers use less water which I think can cause those types of problems.

I hope the bags work for you. You can also use zipper pillow covers. My newer machine (no spindle) does the same thing. i’m ready For a spindle machine again because my sheets come out horrible.

My HE machine has an additional option to add more water. I find this helpful in circumstances of bed linens and other bulky items. Perhaps a setting with a lower speed spin might help not set wrinkles too.

  • Put less items in and do more loads. What type of washer is it? I wash my curtains all the time, as I have a lot of pets and I love having the windows open if at all possible, so they get filthy pretty quick. How many items are you placing in at one time? Could you be overloading the wash tub?

if it is wobbling then you need to ballance it. Get a level from the hardware store and use it to raise or lower the legs. They screw up and down.

Hi Naomine, I haven't as yet washed any curtains in it. and yes maybe before I knew what a miserable machine this is I may have overloaded it . . .or as I loaded it before. It is a Maytag with an agitator in the middle. My curtains are at least 84" and 6 panels 90+ inches. Do you think I should give a bag to each panel? They are also 88" wide per panel or some 72". Thanks all I will use the extra water and I also have learned to give them the extra rinse. Keep your fingers crossed for me as this lady is not up for making new curtains!

Hey you can place thick cardboard paper under your washing machine to reduce the jerking and hope you'll be having delicate wash option in your washing machine while washing curtain. It will be fine if you add a little fabric softner too.
